The Engagement: March 19, 2012

So, I am finally getting around to creating a blog to share our wedding with the world. My husband and I are both wilderness fanatics and love camping, hiking, biking, backpacking, etc. so deciding to have an outdoor wedding was sort of a no-brainer for us.

We got engaged on March 19, 2012 while we were up along the North Shore for a weekend camping trip. Before we got to our campsite we stopped at Gooseberry Falls for a short hike; one minute I was gazing into the tendrils of falls and the next, surprise!, I had a ring on my finger. (More on this later when I describe our invitations-- which by the way, happened to be miniature books we wrote, designed, and assembled ourselves.)

Here we are the morning after getting engaged. We camped at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park and woke up super early so we could hike to this stone fireplace on the top of a mountain* and watch the sunrise over Lake Superior. (*Minnesota "mountain," aka "a big hill")
