Country Line Road: Barnwood Signs & Home Decor

My sister and her friend hosted a boutique sale this summer selling barnwood signs and refurbished furniture. They were asked to be a part of the Duluth Junk Hunt this year in Duluth, Minn.

While my sister's friend was unable to help with the preparation for the sale, I volunteered to step-in and help. The past month we have been busy-bees working to hand craft some more lovely & rustic signs made from authentic barnwood from a family farm.

"Like" our Facebook Page & help spread the word about the Duluth Junk Hunt, too!

Thanks Uncle Joe!

Arthur the cat wanted to help too :)

Holiday cheer

Okay these are not barnwood signs, but they do fit into the Home Decor category.
The animal prints would be perfect for any kid's room! Or a perfect quirky accent to any room.

I love the growth chart! I'm tempted to keep it for myself ;)

I'm thankful for opportunities to share my crafts & love of crafting.
What are you thankful for? Let us know in the comments

Husband's Birthday

I can't resist the opportunity to make a homemade gift. The gallon jug was a few bucks at a garage sale. I made stencils of the Harley Davidson official skull and painted it on the jug in steps. We now have the perfect place to put our spare change to save up for motorcycle goodies.

Official Harley Davidson "Willie G" Skull.

This is the design I used. I printed four or five copies of it so I could cut sections out for stencils (and have extra in case of screw-ups!). Each copy provided a different layer in the final design. This particular picture shows the last stencil I used to fill in the eyes/nose. The extra cutouts helped me to center the design in the right section of the skull.

There is very little time when I am able to have the apartment to myself to do sneaky projects,
so I did the majority of this project locked in the bathroom.

I originally cut out all the lettering, which was very time consuming. In a hurry,  I left the stencil taped to the jar and I left for work. When I got home the paint had dried to the stencil and chunks of paper got stuck to the jar. Other sections of paint peeled off when I removed the stencil. Major disappointment... so I started over.

The second time I just stenciled the skull.

My "secret" hiding place for it while it dried in-between coats of paint.

Here she is, already filling with monies!

P.S. I need to stop blogging at night. (Or at least taking the photos at night.)

First Anniversary

Sportster Iron 883 - Big Blue Pearl

This past Sunday my husband & I celebrated our first year of marriage. We took the day off work on Friday and in honor of it being our Paper Anniversary we spent the day signing paperwork for our newest family member, a motorcycle.

Here we are celebrating our purchase at my in-laws house with champagne. (We were posing for a picture. We did not drink and ride.)

Cheers!

We even made ourselves some jean jacket cutoff vests!

Our gift to each other was the motorcycle. However, ever since our last camping trip up north I have been wanting to do something with the deer antler we found on the trail (besides let it sit cloth-wrapped in a plastic bag on the desk). I designed, and with the help of my pops & a table saw, crafted a frame to showcase it.

I can't wait to hang it in our new apartment!

& of course every special occasion deserves a homemade card.

The poem on the inside of the card is a fragment of the journal entry I wrote the day we found the antler on the trail. We had previously come across a deer carcass (or what was left of it), and I was convinced we were being stalked by the wolf pack that killed it.

"Every naked branch on the trail
became a pile of bones or an antler-
& then I saw it, a real antler
just lying there in the middle of a puddle"
