First Anniversary

Sportster Iron 883 - Big Blue Pearl

This past Sunday my husband & I celebrated our first year of marriage. We took the day off work on Friday and in honor of it being our Paper Anniversary we spent the day signing paperwork for our newest family member, a motorcycle.

Here we are celebrating our purchase at my in-laws house with champagne. (We were posing for a picture. We did not drink and ride.)

Cheers!

We even made ourselves some jean jacket cutoff vests!

Our gift to each other was the motorcycle. However, ever since our last camping trip up north I have been wanting to do something with the deer antler we found on the trail (besides let it sit cloth-wrapped in a plastic bag on the desk). I designed, and with the help of my pops & a table saw, crafted a frame to showcase it.

I can't wait to hang it in our new apartment!

& of course every special occasion deserves a homemade card.

The poem on the inside of the card is a fragment of the journal entry I wrote the day we found the antler on the trail. We had previously come across a deer carcass (or what was left of it), and I was convinced we were being stalked by the wolf pack that killed it.

"Every naked branch on the trail
became a pile of bones or an antler-
& then I saw it, a real antler
just lying there in the middle of a puddle"
